Andy Voss
President & CEO
Prior to co-founding Sansay in 2002, Andy co-founded Nuera Communications in 1995 and served there for four years as the VP of marketing, responsible for product management, business development, marketing and corporate communications. Nuera’s first packet-voice product received Data Communications Magazine’s Hot Product award in 1997, and produced $10m in sales in the first year of commercial availability. After working from concept in 1997 through development and market introduction of the ORCA carrier VOIP product line in 1999, Andy served Nuera as VP of strategy & business development, establishing strategic relationships for Nuera with companies including Net2Phone, IBM, Siemens, and Nortel..
Prior to founding Nuera, Andy was the director of marketing for Cirrus Logic/PCSI’s Clarity division, where he led the initiative to create packet-based voice communications systems. He previously served in business development, sales, and product management roles with NYNEX/SSI; Network Equipment Technologies (N.E.T.), and ComDesign, an early leader in LAN/WAN data networking which was acquired by N.E.T.
For most of his 20 years in the data- and telecommunications industries, Andy has been responsible for identifying new opportunities and working closely with multi-functional teams to develop and launch new products and gain leadership positions in fast-growing segments of communications systems and software markets. He was named one of TMC’s “Top 100 Voices of IP Communications” in 2006.
Andy holds a BA from Cornell University and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Max Sheng
COO and EVP of R&D
Prior to co-founding Sansay in 2002, Max was a member of the founding team and VP of engineering at Nuera Communications. As head of engineering at Nuera, Max lead all development and test teams – at peak size, over 130 employees at distributed locations — responsible for softswitch, gateway, signaling gateway and applications server product development and test. The ORCA product line developed under Max’s guidance received top industry ratings for quality and performance in tests open to all competitors, and is successfully deployed in carrier VOIP networks worldwide.
Prior to Nuera, Max managed software development at Cirrus Logic/PCSI Clarity Division, led wireless LAN systems development at Toshiba America, and developed systems software at Western Digital.
Max holds a BSEE from National Taiwan University and an MSEE from UCLA.
